Dan and Angela Barber moved to Taos in June of 2007 looking for an escape from the east coast, corporate lifestyle. They also wanted to make a positive change for the environment, lessening their impact while working to somehow actually benefit the earth. They moved off-grid and, in the process of improving their own situation, Dan came across the design for a stove that seemed to be leaps and bounds better than the old wood-stove that was already installed in the house -- the only problem was that it was difficult and time consuming to build correctly. After months of research, design and testing, Dan was able to modify the design such that it was simple to build and install. This is the woodstove that is keeping them toasty warm right now in their own living room.
